We believe in making our animals part of our home (literally).

Abendigo takes her job very seriously. Look at how hard she tries to maintain her pose.

She did her best not to fall asleep and knock over that vase.

Finally she could take it no longer....

..and decided THIS was really the best look for this room.

She not only makes herself a part of our home in the bedroom, but also in the dining room on the buffet. She's multi-talented like that.

And lest you think that was her best work, well you’d just be wrong….

Now THIS is her best work by far, wouldn't you agree?

For the chicken broth you will need:

• 2-3 cups chicken
• 1 onion
• handful of carrots
• green beans (I never use)
• 1 1/4 cups of chicken broth
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1/4 tsp thyme
• 6 cups water
• 6 bullion cubes

Boil  for 20-30 minutes or in a crock pot on high for 1 1/2 hours.

Dumplings (makes 6)

• 1 cup flour
• 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1 egg, beaten
• 1/3 cup milk
• 2 TBL vegetable oil

Combine and then scoop into the boiling chicken stock mix (recipe above) for 15 minutes - do not peak .   Makes 6 large dumplings.

Also needed:

One 12 year old to grump, grump,  grump, at your food and sit at the table to eat it, as long as it took you to make it.

Clearly we have too much time on our hands…I’ll go wrap a present now or eat a piece of fudge.  Or maybe I’ll print out 800 pictures of myself to stuff in my son’s wallet that I heard Santa might be getting him.  Shhhhh don’t tell.

Super simple recipe that makes a great presentation (if you use a nice pan, unlike my 10 year old well-used pan =).

All you need is:

• 1 pound hamburger (browned)
• 2 TBL water
• 1 package of taco seasoning
• 1 cup cheddar cheese
• 2 packages of crescent rolls (I use 1 1/2 rolls cuz that’s all the more my pan will hold)

Mix contents together and scoop on to crescent rolls:

Bake in oven at 375 for 20-25 minutes until brown.

Garnish with lettuce, peppers, black olives, carrots, sour cream & salsa.

I saw Pioneer Woman make this recipe and thought even I couldn’t screw it up on the first try (thank goodness I was right for once).

All you need is:
Jimmy Dean Sausage
Homestyle biscuits in the can (REALLY)
Milk
Flour (for when you the gravy)
Salt & Pepper (for flavor)

Fry your sausage up in a pan…

Bake your biscuits…(opening the can always scares me, I know the BOOM is coming but I always jump).

Then make your gravy…this is SUPER simple.  Just use a little fat from the sausage and add some flour, once you make the “roux” you start adding your milk slowly.  You can keep adding milk & flour until you get the desired consistency.  The key is to wisk, wisk, wisk.  I break up some cooked sausage too and put in the gravy.

It’s really yummy on a cold winter’s night.  Enjoy!
