The corner is complete…..
Nester recommended I purchase a ficus tree for the corner of our living room, next to our extremely old antique grandfather clock. So, the good student that I am, I set about finding the perfect tree. My husband and I went to the “land far far away” (we live in the middle of no where - it’s two hours to a “real mall” with “real stores”) and set about scouting for just the right tree.
And find a tree, we DID!!! We found it at Michael’s, not a ficus tree, but a nice tree just the same. At first we thought about a smaller tree but it just didn’t look like it would have the impact this corner needed. It said on the tag it was a 7 foot tree. And everyone knows that a “Christmas tree” that say 7 feet really means 6 feet, because that last foot is just a branch sticking up to hold an angel or a star, etc), so we thought 7 feet sounded good.
We had to lay down the seats in the Denali (SUV) and that the tree poked us in the ear and shoulder all the way home and it never once occured to us that this might be an unusually large tree….no, we just gently moved it so it would stop poking us.
Once we got it inside we realized that our house is NOT the size of a Michael’s craft store (DUH!) and uhhh what were we going to DO with this GINORMOUS tree!!!! Well, we set out to plucking off a few branches….but realized that that wasn’t going to do it. I was heading for a hand saw, when my husband said he thought he could tie strap some of the lower branches together so it wouldn’t spread 1/2 way across our living room (oyyyyy). IT WORKED!
I ordered some metal scrolly mirror wall art and it finally arrived yesterday and now the corner is compete. So without further a-do, please let me introduce you to….the GINORMOUS tree, we lovingly refer to as “Tiny” (tee hee)

I think it looks very finished! Do you still have that before shot? That would be neat to see them together–the before and after!
I’ve missed you! I spent the weekend at my sisters and dropped by here then but couldn’t comment because she was logged in as herself on her computer–imagine that!
That wall looks really balanced now! I haven’t even made it to your other blog much — I’ve been so busy trying to catch up with my tassels and there was a GINORMOUS fabric and fringe sale that I went to this weekend. I am now drained!
Love you girl!

Let me see if I have a before shot (usually I like to toss out my “dont’s” LOL).
P.S. I hope you found some really cool things to make ME some tassles. Like one with an old fashioned phone for instance, hint hint.

Love your photos. It looks great! love the wall color and I Love Grandfather clocks.
Thanks! I’m redecorating my house. I have TONS of help (thank goodness). — I love Grandfather clocks too - we have another one in the dining room. My dad was a jeweler and clock repair man (but his love was really for clocks).

Wow, that looks like it just came out of a home decor magazine. It is awesome; it looks so serene! I love the tree story. However, the goofball in me is wondering what I would see if the camera were to spin around to the rest of the room????

I bet it won’t be long before you see the rest of that room. *wink*
